You’ve heard that positive thinking affects more than your relationships, ability to achieve your goals, helps your work environment, among other benefits?
It’s becoming more and more obvious to health professionals that when we THINK positively and LIVE our lives in a positive way that our immune systems are strengthened and they say even cancer can be held at bay or eliminated!
(Of course, to accomplish this we need to employ other tricks, such as eating healthy foods, doing gentle liver cleanses by adding certain nutrient rich foods and herbs which help tone the blood and liver, as well as eating fiber rich foods which help keep the colon clean, etc. (We help our bodies to clear out the toxins and junk, which allows our lymphatic and immune systems to be able to do the work they’re designed to do instead of being overwhelmed and under-performing.)
Where do words fit into this puzzle?
Our words, spoken aloud and spoken to ourselves, have the effect of creating good and happy feelings in other people and inside of our spirits.
Too much negative self talk, usually instilled in us by negative messages we received about ourselves from family, friends or society, but can also be self inflicted when we feel we’ve failed ourselves in some way.
When we hear the negative messages, we start a process of creating toxic chemicals in our bodies, which can manifest in various ways: depression, physical illness, addictions, anger and abuse towards other people.
So, how do we change this?
It comes down to substituting one set of words for another!
For example: Hard VS. Challenging
I learned a few years ago to switch mental gears from complaining about something and saying it was hard, to saying it was very challenging.
At first when I heard someone else say it, my brain rebelled and wanted to shut it out! “What? You don’t understand! My life is beyond challenging ! It’s just tough and grinding-me-down hard!”
I had grown up with a victim and defeatist attitude, so trust me when I say this didn’t come naturally!
Changing our words changes our minds, our approach, our whole inner fiber!
This is crucial!
For me, the incredible effect of doing this work, (and work it is, when our minds are solidly entrenched in the negative) was slowly removing my bouts of depression!
A last thought by Louise Hay: “Negative thought or negative feelings are just thoughts, and thoughts can be changed! Feelings are just thoughts in motion in the body! Thoughts can be changed!”
