“There is no enlightenment outside of daily life.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
Wow!
When we are seeking enlightenment outside of our daily lives, we can find some very big ideas but then struggle with knowing HOW to incorporate them into our daily lives, so this creates stress, dissatisfaction, and peace eludes us!
This mismatch makes it difficult for people to live their lives in ways that feel truly fulfilling and inspiring, which can lead to resentment, which can lead to anger outbursts, anxiety, and even depression due to speaking negatively to ourselves (and others).
Yet, when we follow what Thich Nhat Hanh says, we can find that inner peace.
What’s a good point to remember not only to get the ball rolling but to be able to continue?
Every day is sacred and so is everything we do!

How can going to an uninspiring job, coming home, cooking, and cleaning help us focus on the sacred and what is miraculous when the dreariness of the routine is mind-numbing and seems to be completely the opposite of anything like that?
A few years ago I came across a wonderful quote that said:
“You are exactly where you need to be, right now!”
and it really helped me to feel grounded and feel that I wasn’t somehow missing out on what I really was supposed to be doing, which was focusing on MY LIFE MISSION!

This simple thought helped me to release the stress that had been building up within me, as I was overwhelmed with what I was going through and wondering how was I going to find the time to fit my LIFE MISSION into my hours, with the life I was living!
I was worried that by being responsible and taking care of all the little day-to-day details of my life that I wasn’t honoring this LIFE MISSION.
In our success-oriented culture, a LIFE MISSION seems unimportant unless it’s founding an impactful non-profit, raising Millions for charity, running marathons, becoming a best-seller, or any other highly visible work!
That’s simply NOT TRUE!
Having a LIFE MISSION doesn’t have to look big or massively important from the outside!
- What if our first steps are working to achieve peace by managing the tiny little details in our lives?
- What if our first steps are to learn to embrace and to love ourselves to allow that inner healing to take place?
- What if our first steps are to get clean and sober?
- What if our first steps are to learn Anger Management?
- What if our first steps are looking exactly like what we’re doing right now with our lives?

I love this, “Everything comes to you at the right moment. Be patient. Be grateful.”
When I released my stress of needing to know the outcomes or at least, “the right way”, I was able to accept the flow of events unfolding, exactly as they’re supposed to, instead of how I thought or hoped they would.
By realizing that the Universe and God had placed me exactly where I need to be in each moment of my life, I could let go of the fear of making the “wrong” decisions, for I developed an understanding that the Universe and God didn’t NEED me to figure everything out for them, and to pray in minute detail for how I wanted things to go! (Yes, that had been taught in one church I had attended, as a “sign” of being a SUPERSTAR Christian.)
I realized that God and the Universe were quite capable, thank you very much, of being able to figure things out in far better ways than I could, and had the inside track to what was going on behind the scenes!
I was very relieved to let go of the insane pressure of trying to be a SUPERSTAR Christian, and just release my prayers to God and the Universe!
I let go of that insane teaching that dictating to God and the Universe exactly what I wanted was a sign of being a super-evolved, advanced Christian!
Whew!
Honestly, as I reflect, maybe that teaching is WHY we’re seeing so many angry, demanding “Karens”? They’ve been taught that it’s righteous to be that way? *Inward shudder*!!

Aren’t you feeling much more relieved to know you don’t need to have it all figured out, that you can focus on doing the best you can, right where you are, and God and the Universe will work with you?
I know it’s helped me!
