How do you know if you’re in the right place?

Making a big move or even any transition in life can feel daunting!

You’ve known that this change was coming. You’ve researched it. You’ve asked people for advice. You may even have tested it out a little!

Yet, once you jump in with both feet and land in that new place, whatever it may be for you, once there you may feel some little nagging feelings of uncertainty!

“Did I make the right move?” “Did I read the situation correctly and respond how I need to?” “Is this really right for me?” “Should I have stayed where I was a little longer?”

“When you make a choice, you change the future.” ― Deepak Chopra

Every choice we make has the potential to change our future dramatically. Seemingly small choices can suddenly blossom, even explode into something completely different. Our lives have the potential of changing suddenly, even if we’ve been stuck in a holding pattern for years, waiting for the cogs of the Universe to move!

How can we know if we’ve made the right choices?

I don’t believe it’s in our best interests to constantly second guess ourselves, or to worry over every decision!

There’s much to be said and has been said on the practice of mindfulness!

Yet, what does that mean in our lives when we’re seeking to follow our own personal path?

For me, mindfulness is very much connected to self awareness, being aware of the clues the Universe is sending, of being open to learning and experiencing new things, as well as being very present in my day-to-day activities.

The practice of mindfulness reveals things to us that used to be invisible.

When we slow down a little to step out of the headlong rushing around, take time to take a walk, to be creative, to speak with people, to listen to our thoughts, slowly we become aware that there is in fact a trail of breadcrumbs that the Universe has given to us!

This awareness allows Serendipity to unfold wonderful things for us!

The highest levels of performance come to people who are centered, intuitive, creative, and reflective – people who know to see a problem as an opportunity. Deepak Chopra

My life changed dramatically. I had spent a few years living with my daughter after my divorce, and had known for a long time that I needed to move back to the city to get on with the next stage of my life, but different events kept me in place.

Finally the stars lined up and I knew it was time to move. Once I was in my new place, my mind started questioning what I did, particularly since I had a number of people telling me I was so brave! Brave? I didn’t feel brave! I had felt very comfortable with my decision!

Serendipity then stepped in to show me through events each day the first week that I was indeed exactly where I need to be! Had I not already been practicing mindfulness in a much larger sense, I might have overlooked these clues and not seen that the Universe was giving me reassurances each day by having these wonderful things happen!

Do I think I’m more special that these things happen to me? No! The Universe just works this way, for everyone! When we pay attention, we can see our own personal breadcrumb trail, and know that we’ve made the right decision, that we’re exactly where we need to be!

When we pay attention, we see more. When we see the clues which were invisible to us before, we then can have a deep sense of inner peace that the decision we made was the right one to make at that particular time!
