Happy Happiness Day!

I was reminded (how could I have overlooked it?) that today is International Day of Happiness by The Hot Goddess in What is Happiness? I suppose I’ve had my head in writing a new book, that I was overlooking the mentions of this day.

(If you’re feeling cynical about a Happiness Day when you don’t feel it right now yourself, please read on…)

Natalie gives shout-outs to these awesome bloggers who write very positively and who she garnered happiness quotes from: Kaushal Kishore explains how peace, detachment, and acceptance are keys to happiness in his post, Golden Rules of Happiness…, Dawn of CreatedbyDeesign writes in her post, Finding Happiness, about feeling happiness in little moments, Khaya of Khaya Rhonkainen also writes of finding happiness in simple things, Kathy of Kwoted and Navigating the Change finds happiness in being herself, Anand of Ananda Only also believes happiness is found within, Jeff of Develop. Inspire. Transform agrees happiness is not found in external things, Beth McKinley writes that true happiness is about self in her blog post Happiness, and Brad of Writing to Freedom has a different view on happiness. Thank you Natalie for posting these links!

I haven’t written about Happiness in a little while so perhaps it is time to share some new bloggers with you who have found ways to identify it in their own lives!

In the past, I had difficulty feeling happiness or even feeling that I deserved it. I feared happiness, for I always thought I’d be punished with more trials if I allowed myself to feel it for too long.

In my search for trying to seek happiness, I discovered that I didn’t like myself very much, so I set out to teach myself to do so. In doing the inner work, I found I had opened myself and cleared the pathways to see and feel happiness.

I had self-sabotaged for so many years, and I had come to believe I could shield myself from more troubles by not feeling happiness too deeply. Now I know that was a symptom of the inner damage I had sustained, but at the time it made sense to keep myself miserable!

As many of you know, I wrote Developing Happiness When You Can’t Find It from the lessons I learned coming out of those dark times, and I blog freely about the different aspects of healing so that you too can find little ways to grow towards being happier.

If you’re struggling with the whole concept of happiness and feeling it’s just eluding you, please don’t think you are doomed or cursed, or that it happens for everyone else except for you!

Happiness is a byproduct of healing one’s spirit, removing the inner blockages, or teaching ourselves a new way of speaking to ourselves and of seeing our lives!

It is possible for you too to do this for yourself, believe it or not. We each have this inner power, an inner ability, even if we’re so downtrodden that we don’t feel we have the energy to!

Listed below is my “on repeat” list of posts where I speak about these beginning steps.

You aren’t obliged to try to tackle it all at once, that would be exhausting and you may not have the energy for that right now, so try just one small thing!

So, on International Happiness Day, I’m speaking to those who may feel left out from it all, who struggle to feel there’s anything positive in their life… I want you to know I haven’t forgotten you!

You are important. You are worthy of developing happiness too, by working on healing those inner barriers that are blocking those feelings.

You aren’t a hopeless case! You have so much potential! I believe in you!

  1. International Day of Happiness should be on a Friday. haha Teasing aside, thank you for sharing a focus for today and for highlighting and summarizing Natalie’s post. A fine example of happiness, which I believe is most exemplified when we lift others up. You do that consistently. Hope you’ve had a day of happiness, Tamara. 🌻

    1. I have found that working on my blockages helped me to access my happiness. When we have difficulty accessing it directly, we need to go in through the back door! Keep going!

  2. Dearest Tamara, I did not know it was Happiness Day, and it is a Happy Day for me because I finally landed on your blog showing up in my reader!!! Oh my joy at seeing this – because I tried to visit your site immediately upon my return to WP and it showed up as This Site No longer Exists (or something like that). My heart felt a lot of sadness about not having you around to return to. Yayy I love reading from you again – Happiness indeed is a byproduct of our healing.

    1. I’m so happy you found me again! Maybe you were following my old blog that I made inactive a couple of years ago and haven’t followed this one yet? I encountered one other person who had this issue. I’m delighted that you have been able to reconnect!

        1. That’s very strange how WordPress works. I’ll have to take another deep dive to see if there’s something I missed before.

  3. “Happiness is a byproduct of healing one’s spirit, removing the inner blockages, or teaching ourselves a new way of speaking to ourselves and of seeing our lives!” Amen to this! Teaching myself new ways of speaking to and about myself has been life-changing. Thank you so much for the shout-out, and for this inspiring post.
Your posts don’t show up on my Reader so I’ve missed them. Looking forward to exploring your archives ❤️

I find WordPress to be weird too. It isn’t consistent. :-((

    1. I’d heard of it, but for some reason never really made note of it! Natalie from the Hot Goddess inspired today’s post. True to my fashion, I speak about what can interfere with our feelings of happiness!
