“Peace is the result of retraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than as you think it should be.” – Wayne Dyer
A peaceful mind can be created.
This is good news for those of us who have naturally high anxiety!
We aren’t doomed to living with high anxiety ruining our joy and siphoning away from happy occasions!
I have found that positive affirmations work best when I mindfully choose to speak kindly to myself, instead of allowing the judgemental stream to run free in my brain!
Suspending the inner judgement we habitually make ourselves listen to is a key player in teaching ourselves to retrain our brains!
Our negative thought patterns create Neural Pathways become so strong they hijack our brains into going to the dark places we want to get out of.
Simply trying to block ourselves from thinking negative thoughts doesn’t work, as I’m sure you’ve discovered.

We actually need to create a whole new system of Neural Pathways!
We do this by consciously choosing positive thoughts.
This is where affirmations, positive and inspiring quotes, as well as speaking gently to ourselves comes in.
At first it may feel awkward to do these things, because it’s not something we’ve done before.
With time it will start to feel more and more natural. With more time we will develop more and more Neural Pathways, while the old Neural Pathways will gradually fade away.
It’s quite normal to have good days and bad days during this transition time.
With more and more practice the dark times become less frequent and less severe.
You can do this! Keep going! Keep trying!
