Don’t ever save anything for a special occasion.
Being alive is the special occasion.
I had a friend who used her “good” dishes often and would bring them out when friends dropped by.
She was criticized by many people for not saving the dishes for the holidays and other special occasions. She was accused of being frivolous and not valuing quality items.
She’d patiently explain to them that she knew the value of the dishes, knew they were expensive but that she valued her friends and the time she spent with them just as much as her material possessions, so she considered each time she spent with friends to be a special occasion.
This blew people’s minds!
No one had ever told them that they valued their friendship so much to make the occasion seem special!
They learned that she valued her time with them so much that she didn’t want to wait for a once or twice a year opportunity.
She wanted to show her feeling to people by making everyday events into special occasions!
I learned a lot from my friend!
When I was starting over in life a couple of years ago, buying goods and furnishings for a new apartment, I made sure to choose things I love so I’d be surrounded by beauty! A lot of what I bought was from thrift stores I frequented over the months, buying something only when I fell in love with it, not just because I needed it. I was very glad I had not rushed my purchases once we became housebound with COVID, because I love my surroundings!
So my advice to you?
Choose what you love, don’t try to please the invisible “Good Housekeeping” or “HGTV” judges!
Wear the colors you love, use the good dishes, do things now that you’ve promised you’d do at a future time!
None of us knows how much time we actually have in life to live, nor do we know what’s around the next corner.
So live, and enjoy living!
Be yourself through it, if you don’t you’ll regret that, and you deserve to live a life you don’t regret!
Blessings to you if you are thinking of starting something new in your life!
May you receive the help you need, to help you in wondrous ways!

So true – took me on a quick evaluation of how I live, I don’t buy things often but also tend to save stuff, I know. One thing surely everyday is a celebration to be filled with joy.

Right? I’ve been following that credo for a while, but when I watched Marie Kondo’s series I felt more confident to give away old items I had been hanging onto but didn’t really love!

Yeah I watched the series too. I think my tendency to hold on prevails in some ways still 🙂

There are some things that are just OFF LIMITS to reducing or eliminating! 😁😁 Like art supplies and candles! I have a lot of those and just don’t want to see a need to minimize them!! 🤣🤣 Those are my happy place!! 😄
