We feel we fail when we don’t achieve our goals, or do it in a specified timeline. We feel we fail when we don’t achieve financial success.

Yet, underneath the feeling of failing, is our fear that we don’t actually measure up somehow, and that’s the underlying reason why we fail.

The reason why we feel we don’t measure up is because we really don’t see our self worth!

We live with a feeling that we’re unworthy, undeserving, unwanted, un____________ (you fill in the blank), because our brain has rationalized that if we were worthy deserving, wanted, ______________, then we would have already achieved what we set out to do!

This couldn’t be further from the truth!

When we allow ourselves to be our authentic selves, to live life on our terms and not someone else’s, we set a foundation for our spirits to thrive and to feel successful and free.

When we squash our inner selves and live a fake life to appear like something we’re not, we end up feeling trapped inside of a prison of our own making, because somehow we’ve bought into an idea that this is what success requires of us.

Feeling trapped, feeling inauthentic, feeling stuffed down, is that REALLY being successful?

The most liberating thing is to give ourselves permission to be ourselves!

We cannot fail when we’re our authentic self, even if we don’t achieve dizzying financial success!

One isn’t tied to the other, even though every ad and every social media influencer teaches otherwise!

Be you! Do you, because you are awesome, worthy, worthwhile, deserving, wanted, necessary, and important!

Do more things which bring you joy! Be with more people who you feel uplifted with! Start taking better care of yourself physically! Practice seeing another person’s point of view! Notice the small, passing moments of beauty!

All of these thing will help you expand and grow into your most authentic self and help your spirit to soar!

Above all, speak kindly to yourself today!

By changing our inner dialogue we change everything: we change how we see ourselves, we change our motivation to get up again and to keep trying, we change our lives because we become more positive individuals!

Speak to yourself as though you will succeed in whatever you set out to do, even if the timeline ends up looking quite different from what you had set!

Speak kindly to yourself, so that you will feel encouraged to get up again, dust yourself off and try again! For if you speak harshly to yourself, you will discourage yourself from wanting to try again!

Sometimes it does take many, many times of trying until you achieve what you set out to do. (Just ask Thomas Edison how many times he tried, until he finally succeeded making the light bulb!! Or ask Henry Ford about his path to success!)

Speak kindly to yourself today, so that you will feel much more comfortable with just being yourself!

  1. Do what you want and what you enjoy – this seemed like the most revolutionary advice I gave myself at one time I remember. The sense of self-worth when not independent of other’s expectations we lose our sense of being and keep choosing to do to satisfy some external standards. Your post is one perfect statement after another.

  2. 😊 why thank you Pragalbha! We have both learned the value of doing this in our lives, you earlier in life than I did, but it’s wonderful when anyone does, whether earlier or later!

    There’s really no better time than now, for anyone contemplating this in their own life! It’s a truly liberating mind set!
