“GRATITUDE in advance is the most powerful creative force in the Universe.” – Neale Donald Walsh
Today I lost my job. It’s Thursday, but recently I’ve been scheduling my posts to publish the next day, so by the time you read this I’ll already have had a little time to process it.
Initially I was hit hard. Freight train hard. I wasn’t expecting it, at all. After my exit interview, I finished up loose ends in order to leave professionally, packed my personal items and left. The job loss was due to corporate restructuring, not anything I did wrong, so there wasn’t any warning.
As I was driving home, I kept reminding myself that God and the universe have my back, that they knew about it before I did, and have already been working on my behalf to help me find my next job.
When I Messaged my brother he invited me to sit in on a webinar focusing on philanthropic giving, which I did. Not only did I find all the speakers interesting, I found my heart was reminiscing about the years I had worked for nonprofits, where I felt I was doing something to make a difference. I will hold onto that feeling as I start my job search.
Tonight when I pray, I won’t be praying “Please, please God, help me! Please take pity on me! Please find it in your heart to help me. I need a job, please help me find one!”
Why won’t I be praying that way tonight?
Years ago I had been taught to pray that way, but I realized it made ME feel terrible and much more anxious, because the message I had been told was I was unworthy, so I wasn’t even sure I would be helped. I actually didn’t realize it until I changed how I prayed.
How do I pray now, and how will I be praying tonight?
Dear God, Jesus and my Angels, “Thank you so much for all the blessings you give me and for already setting into motion a solution to help me! Thank you for taking care of all my needs and those of my family and friends! Thank you so much for helping each of us, in the ways we need it most!” I could add more, but you get the picture!
Once I learned about praying and thinking thoughts of gratitude in advance, it changed EVERYTHING for me.
I now was praying from a place of assurance, that God and the Universe are loving; they love and cherish each of us, and will do everything to conspire to work things out for our greater good!
Having those foundational thoughts in my soul helped me to release the anxieties, the fears, even the depressions which crept in when the fears took too strong a hold.
Praying with Gratitude in advance isn’t so much about GETTING, but it’s instrumental in bringing peace into one’s spirit! It’s so calming! So refreshing!
After I started praying this way, I was able to reflect on what I had been taught in the past and what I had put into practice, and then I understood why I was even more anxious after I became part of 2 churches, than when I had simply studied scripture by myself!
Whether you’re very religious or count yourself as spiritual, prayer is prayer! HOW we pray affects our minds and our spirits profoundly!
I encourage you to give Gratitude in Advance a try, and see for yourself how differently you feel inside!
