You’ll never know how many parts of you are living in other people!

You’ll never know how many parts of you are living in other people! The encouragement you gave. The kindness you showed. The confidence you helped build. We leave pieces of ourselves behind more often than we realize.

It’s easy to think sometimes that we don’t have any impact in other’s lives if we aren’t a big mover and shaker, but often it’s the quiet moments, the small actions that tell others we care for them and help them to find their own moral compass.

I spent years detoxing from my mother’s negative drama. There wasn’t a person she didn’t pick fights with, correct, put down or try to destroy. She wired my nervous system for so many years, and it took me a long time to not seek out people who drummed up drama for their excitement.

My father left us when I was 8 and my brother was 3 1/2 years younger, so we didn’t have his gentle calming presence every day in our lives. Dad was a gentle soul who passed away close to 40 years ago. He went through terrible trauma in his early years but never acted out against people the way my mother did. He was an insightful man who took pleasure helping the Ukrainian community in Montreal and inspired many people. While Dad moved out when I was a kid, I ended up moving in with him when my mother once again became violent towards me and I couldn’t take it anymore. Dad was there. The more I learn and grow on my path, the more I appreciate the gentle and quiet lessons he imparted.

There are many, many quiet, kind people in our world, quietly and gently living their lives and often unbeknownst to them they also have a steadying influence on the world around them.

My daughter and I recently were watching the orignal Little House on the Prairie, and Charles Ingalls, Pa, represents a quiet, gentle masculinity that my father lived. The alpha male manosphere so popular with many men today sees gentle, peaceful men as beta males, but it’s often the gentle men who get things done and are there solidly for their families.

As much as social media loves to create a pseudo world where bigger is better, flashier is more desired, success is measured in monetary and social cred terms, it’s the quiet gentle people who hold our hearts together and who help us in our lives.

Kindness is the new cool! Being a solid rock, the salt of the earth, an encourager is what this world needs!

  1. We certainly need quiet and principled people in an era where the loud and cruel of both sexes seem to dominate. Your message is well taken, Tamara. I am sure your father was a treasure.

  2. Yes indeed kind lady. We leave many things in this world as we open to that love within. Hopefully good but no doubt there are wobbly bits on our trail. And I’m sure they have parts to play too, encouraging us to go beyond them as we look for that love and happiness we can feel ‘out there’ to start with, but realise where it really is among those stumbles. Great post kind lady, your leaving lots of guideposts for us all 🤗❤️🙏

    1. Thanks so much Mark! You understand how our actions and words affect others, and operating from a place of love allows us to build stepping stones for others to follow instead of leaving barriers they need to navigate. Indeed, as you said, if we navigate those barriers with love we’re able to move forward in our lives. This is truly a state to aspire to, for love is the answer to the problems in this world, and gives a foundation to truly enjoy life.
