We’re all part of a rich tapestry that shows many images, many scenes. No stitch or thread is more important than the other, we’re all in it, together.
Even when we’re born into certain circumstances, there comes a point where we get to choose what we want to think and if we take action, we get to choose who we want to be as a person. It takes courage to look at all those things, and make choices that are best for us, best for our souls.
Dr. Stein wrote an interesting essay “About the Purpose of Life” where he talks about people trying to find meaning in their lives, while simultaneously ignoring many of their own personal truths.
The historian suggests reality is not about the drama or the character we play in it. We fail to understand life when we close our eyes to much of the anguish embedded in our world, and produce the very pain we wish to bypass.
Thus, ignorance is the cause of many predicaments, according to Harari.
Ignorance of reality.
We brush aside cautionary information we should ponder. Think of the times we cannot bear to face the events and choices generating discomfort.
Paradoxically, by wearing a blindfold while pursuing our goals, we increase our chances of hurting ourselves, our acquaintances, our family, and those who are different from us.
Looking is inconvenient. We decide to cross out the difficult parts in the play’s manuscript. Alcohol and drugs are available to serve as masks. TV is one of the endless distractions.
By avoiding what the mirror shows and turning away from careful, honest consideration of how we cause injury, we do not recognize or acknowledge our contribution to pain. This leaves us unable to remedy either our own misfortune or that of others.
As Harari notes, “We can’t fix something we are busy ignoring.”
Dr. Stein “About the Purpose of Life“
YOU get to choose too. You get to start creating a new path for yourself.
When we’re ready to start looking, to start seeing, we’re required to look inwardly. It can be quite scary for initially we see monsters and dragons, but when we keep looking, those beasts are simply our fears and hurts that we haven’t dealt with, yet.
Yet.
Often we find our purpose, our mission when we’re doing the inner work, when we’re going through the process of becoming, for in those transformational times we become open to listening and to seeing what path we need to be walking on.
Is it now time? If it is, take it slowly!
Don’t rush in and try to do it all at once. The beasts will snap and roar.
Take it slowly. One gentle step at a time.
You’ve got this, you can do it. You are worthy of being able to walk this path.
Slowly. One baby step at a time.

- Just because you’re struggling does not mean you’re failing

- Overcoming having been othered, and why you may not be as “different” or as rejected as you might believe!
- Reach out and talk about it! Don’t suffer in silence!
- Rearrange the letters in Depression, you’ll get “I pressed on”
- Respect your body when it’s asking you for a break. Respect your mind when it’s seeking rest.
- Small acts of self care for when you’re overloaded and don’t seem to care
- The heaviest burdens that we carry are the thoughts in our head.

This is all wonderful, but I especially love the “Something I notice about genuinely happy people”… peace is choice. Indeed!

I love the Japanese Legend thank you Tamara.
As I read I’m thinking yes, yes and yes followed by memories and thoughts of all those struggling every day just to get through – mainly by utilising practical nous – little or no time for inner work! The privilege of having the time (and energy!) to participate. We are the lucky ones!

Thank you for your shout out, Tamara. Your title is timely, given that the decision to go to war, the reasons, the goals, and the purpose, are all being pondered. When a person or a nation doesn’t know where it is going, we have a problem getting to a good place.

This journey is a beautiful teacher in finding that love and happiness we ever search for Tamara. It takes a long time, but that time allows great wisdom in its empathy, compassion and love it creates in those many experiences. All that I ask ‘have you found that peace’ and they have said yes…and then being asked…would they change anything? They all said no. There may be many stumbles, but among it a beauty unseen, a wisdom not fully formed until we are ready…so we can see. Great post kind lady, words of wisdom on that very path for us all 🤗❤️🙏
