Love… I know, I know, it’s a hippy-dippy mantra, and yet, there’s no lie detected in saying this is what we all need more of.
Learning to love ourselves in a way that is nurturing and healthy is something many of us struggle or have struggled to learn.
This doesn’t mean going on massive shopping sprees, or binging on wine, sex and food. It’s much more about how we speak to ourselves which then ripples outwardly.
- As we practice being gentle and kind with ourselves, we actually help to speed the process of helping our lives become more positive!
- Be kind to past versions of yourself that didn’t know the things you now know.
- By changing our inner dialogue, we change EVERYTHING!
- Changing how we see ourselves; moving from dislike when we yearn to be able to go forward into something more positive
- Fall in love with taking care of yourself
- Green flagged – people who are considered good people have these traits
Learning to love others is also a toughie.
The very rich seem to be very self-indulgent while seeming to loathe the idea of the rest of the people, their workers and such, to be able to have decent salaries and be able to not have to live hand-to-mouth and be able to afford proper healthcare.
Even though most of us aren’t the very rich, there are so many dividing lines between us all and the people in power love to have us divided and focusing on hating each other rather than looking at the puppet strings they’re pulling.
We crave how society used to be, and the TV shows that created that nostalgia curated a life and presented it to us in a way that we believed that everyone lived that way. Was it the life itself or the feel-good vibes those shows created that we miss so much?
Think about shows like The Waltons, Little House on the prairie, The Cosby Show, among just a few of the line-up of shows we consumed and internalized.
I have a couple of questions regarding this:
- What if we could take some of the open-hearted characteristics of those shows and times and reintroduce them into our current lives?
- What if we were to choose to ignore some of the labels that get used to separate people into categories and groups, and instead we got to know one another?
What if we mindfully set about doing the above, and not just forget about it and move on once this post is read?
Is this doable? Can we stretch ourselves more when difficult or uncomfortable circumstances come up? Can we speak and act from a place of genuine love, and not merely trying to get others to do things our way?

More thoughts on Love:
- In a society that has you counting money, pounds, calories, and steps, be a rebel and count your blessings instead!
- Is it LOVE or just infatuation?
- Is Love Enough to Help Someone Kick a Drug Habit?
- It’s all about LOVE! When judging hurts…
- Love is NOT all you need!
- Love is not what you say. Love is what you do.
- Love is wanting others to be happy – Dalai Lama
- Setting “Boundaries with consequences”
- The power of love is the strongest force in the universe.
- The more you extend kindness to yourself, the more it will become your automatic response to others.
- “What kind of love do I allow in my life?”

Can you imagine who different the world would be if we actually made attempts to get to know one another? Such a beautiful, thought-provoking post, as usual, Tamara. =

Thanks Erin! Yes, imagine if we each tried to get to know people we consider to be different from us, how that could help to dispel untrue tropes and stereotypes. We could see each other as people having common goals in life and for our families.

I definitely like the giving yourself something to look forward to idea. I need to find more of those things.
Personally, I would love it if we could return to the wholesome old TV shows instead of the garbage that is fed to society these days.

Yes, I love that too! All part of lovingly taking care of ourselves!
I’ve switched from watching live TV to watching series on Netflix or Prime. I get to choose what I want to watch and subsequently enter my inner space of my heart and mind. It feels much more mindful and removes the feeling of being at the mercy of whatever is on in the moment.

We find ourselves rewatching shows we’ve watched in the past and are very suspicious of new shows. But, sometimes we’re pleasantly surprised. 🙂

Hehe, I understand that! Sometimes keeping an open mind towards new shows brings some gems into our lives!

Absolutely.
This reminds me of the time, years ago, when I asked a friend with similar taste about a particular show and if he’d recommend it. He said, “It gets the job done.” 😛

My pleasure Wynne! I know the message of living in a loving state has been said so much that it’s become a Hippy mantra, but there is so much truth in it that our time needs desperately!

Yes, learning to love in a bigger way, not just transactionally is what we’re meant to do and who we are, it is a spiritual and emotional type of coming home. I know it will seem difficult and even seem to be unobtainable to some, but that is a filter of pain and hurt that causes the separation. When we work on our healing, our capacity for feeling and showing love just naturally opens up because that is the state we’re supposed to be in, isn’t it?!

I’m with you, Tamara. Love is, indeed, all that we need. The Masters of Capital/Consumerism convinced us otherwise. Now, here we are–fumbling in the darkness, unable to fill the emptiness within our being.

“fumbling in the darkness, unable to fill the emptiness within our being” Yes! Yes! You’ve nailed it. When we set our goal in life to become more loving instead of just becoming wealthy, we gain the inner riches that money cannot buy.
I don’t hate money, I think it’s great; I’d certainly like to have more of it to be able to do the things I’d love to, but I also realize that it’s hollow when we don’t become a more loving person.

This journey is a very powerful one Tamara. It teaches so much in all its many experiences, good, bad and in between. And there is a guidepost in those things that make us feel good or not. And the love thing…its the one where when you ask someone what they want out of life is usually that love and happiness thing…even though seemingly on a bridge too far.
But it isn’t, simply because all those experiences build much empathy, love and compassion. We can’t help but feel all those things because of the way we are wired. Hence the scars. Through them is giving us that gift of those things, and it is actually radiated out from us. You can ‘feel’ those that have been there simply by the compassion and empathy they hold. And there are not too many that don’t hold them, and those that don’t are usually just covering up and blocking their fears from feeling them. One of those paths we encounter.
Great post kind lady, and yes you are right, unconditional love is already there, we just have to understand the love thing and it will simply open to us in that understanding. And we will, we are wired to it. And its calling us home 🤗❤️🙏
