I love this quote because the message is supportive of both sides, the speaker and the listener. This reinforces the premise that we each have the right to our own thoughts and opinions, we each have the right to take the time we need to think things over, to process information and make up our own minds in due course!
We live in such an instant-feedback world that when someone doesn’t respond immediately or at least quickly to something, isn’t is pretty common to see them being written off? Or being confronted, sometimes harshly?
I know I’ve seen it plenty of times, and the results haven’t been positive for the relationships. Ill feelings and resentment are the first emotions which come out, further eroding sometimes difficult situations.
Patience can be in short supply these days, and we seem to have lost the fine art of respecting each other.
Time is an important factor when planting a seed, for just as in nature each type of seed has different germination timelines and nutrition requirements, human being also have different timelines for processing information which isn’t currently part of their reality!
These days, planting positive thoughts can require more time to accept and act on than negative ones, because we’ve become so wired to jump to negative conclusions in our fake news, drama-filled social media world which informs our realities.
The Amygdala requires more effort to return to a state of peace and calm after it has been fed information which activates an adrenaline-fed response; mindfully choosing patience is to start to turn that around.
Even if we don’t ‘change another person’s mind’, we ourselves stand to gain more than we stand to lose from being patient and waiting for seeds to sprout.
Who knows, the seeds which sprout are the one which will be of benefit to us the most!
Have a great day!

It isn’t my image. I found it on Facebook and I didn’t see an author or artist mentioned or I would have given credit. Thanks for asking and for stopping by!

Hello Tamara, I love the saying “We cannot force someone to hear a message they are not ready to receive, but we must never underestimate the power of planting a seed.” Is this a quote that you wrote or are you quoting someone else?
