Somewhere someone is looking for exactly what you have to offer!

“Somewhere someone is looking for exactly what you have to offer!” – Louise Hay

Being cookie-cutter is only a good thing if you’re a cookie, or if you like being indistinguishable from everyone else!

Most of us aren’t, yet we try to fit into a preconceived mold of what we perceive someone or others want us to be.

Acceptance into a relationship, group, or even a company isn’t really satisfying if we’ve had to squeeze into a tight box.

At some point, we’re going to be very unhappy and be trying to bust out of it!

The thought of being alone, or not included is scary and many of us will rationalize that squeezing into that box will be worth it, as long as we are in a relationship or part of the group or the company.

So we rationalize away the red flags we see, and we try to minimize in our minds that they don’t really matter… until they do.

The hardest thing sometimes is to walk away from situations that really aren’t good for us and which make us unhappy, especially if we’ve invested a lot of time and effort into it.

Our own feelings of inner judgment and lack of self-worth can hammer away at us, making us question if we’ve made the right choice.

Self-doubt creeps in, and we wonder. We question.

I believe it’s important to know who we are, to give ourselves permission to be that person, and to strive to live a life where we’re not constantly compromising our values, our dreams, and even our future, just to “not rock the boat”.

I believe that if we’re in a situation where we’re walking on proverbial eggshells so we don’t “rock the boat” or go against the “group mind”, we just might be in the wrong situation for us. It may be great for others, but not for us.

Remember: Somewhere someone is looking for exactly what you have to offer!

  1. I feel joy in recognizing all that you describe and knowing that I have moved far ahead from trying to be an acceptable version for a select few. I hope to continue in that direction. When I had first come across this quote, it made me realize that we are such givers at heart. And we fear losing people whom we want to give to 🙂

    1. Brava for the growth you have experienced! So awesome!

That’s such a very true point! Many of us are givers by nature. It doesn’t work so well anymore when we’re doing it to avoid losing people, but truly, if the foundation of the relationship was us giving and them receiving, it wasn’t healthy to start with!

    1. Thanks Janet! That makes me feel so good to hear! I wasn’t sure about posting this today but my gut told me that someone needed to hear it. I guess that someone is you!

Keep going! Hope your day is wonderful!
