Affirmation: The more I focus on the good, the more I receive.
Does this seem odd? Why would focusing on good mean we receive more good?
Our minds see what our hearts focus on.
If we focus on the negative, our brains tend to sift through and filter out the positive even when it might be in the majority in our life. We’ll see the negative as being stronger, because that’s what we’re focusing on.
Likewise, when we focus on the positive, the negative will recede into perspective. When we focus on the positive we tend to see solutions far faster than we would other wise, and feel more confident in following through.
How can we help our brains switch from seeing mostly the negative to seeing the positive?
I’ve found that when I take a long walk or go to sit in nature I can connect with the positive energies nature provides. I feel more relaxed, less anxious and able to just let my mind rest.
I’ve also found that doing some kind of artwork or mark-making, and adding my written thoughts over the top really helps me extract the anxiety and depression.
The journey of moving from the negative to the positive takes hard gut work sometimes.
In the beginning it’s more painful because this is uncharted territory full of old emotional landmines.
With time it does get easier because we’re getting better at it, and we’re healing from the hurts.
This is a terrifyingly wonderful journey, but it’s SO worth it!
