Is suffering necessary? Yes and no.

Oh! That makes sense!

I know that long after I left my first abuser, I carried the pain with me. It tore me up.

Emotionally I struggled with letting go of the pain, as I had identified with it for so long.

I didn’t know how to feel happy or comfortable for any length of time.

I was always on my guard expecting a new negative event, so I was geared to see the negative long before it arrived, so no surprise that I felt very overwhelmed a lot because of all the negativity!

Then one day I heard that I didn’t need to suffer any more, and it lighted a fire in my heart to do the hard work to not only repair the damage but to learn to become a whole and happy person!

Where are you on this spectrum?
