Healing is hard work, and we don’t always like to talk about it because, well, sometimes we’re not sure if it will work, and we don’t want to look like a fool if it wouldn’t.
“Hey y’all, I’m working on the new 2.0 version of myself which is going to be awesome (key in soundtrack)… fade to… splat… That wasn’t my fault, I had no idea that rock was there… I tripped…”
So instead of failing in front of everyone, we keep it quiet that we’re working on healing. We put on a brave, fierce face.
Guess what? Even when we fall, we’re still learning. We’re still growing. We’re still getting better.
When I was working on my own emotional recovery, I felt I was failing ALL the time. That’s normal, because we’re struggling to learn some new skills.
New skills also need to be put into practice, so we’re not necessarily going to get it right the first time! That’s normal too!
We live in such a success oriented society, that being a beginner, or rather to be seen as a beginner, an amateur, isn’t seen well, photogenic or influencer material, is it?
Yet, it’s good to be a beginner, because it means we’re going out on a limb and learning something new!
You know the old adage “Practice makes perfect?” Well, it’s true! Especially learning life skills to heal, to overcome a toxic past!
Little by little we become better at being healthier. Little by little we get comfortable with our new selves, so we don’t self-sabotage. Little by little we see ourselves differently in the mirror!
So, I’m sending love to all who are struggling to overcome! Sending love to all who are taking the shaky, baby steps! Sending big love!
