2025 Snake becomes 2026 Horse: what does it mean?

This year’s transition to the new year seems to be filled with many possibilities running the spectrum from very positive to very negative, either starting quite soon or reaching long into the future. One just need to see the headlines in the news to see this.

I hope that 2026 will be the year love takes a deep root in your heart; love yourself instead of loathing, love the people around instead of judging, and love our planet instead of turning a blind eye. Love is more than an emotion; it becomes action when we act on it. Love is a space we mindfully create where we and others can thrive. Love becomes the resonant force and music of our lives, tuning our homes away from anger and towards peace.

I don’t claim to have a crystal ball or the ability to foresee the future, so I’ll share with you these forecasts I found online. Take them literally if you choose, or with a large grain of salt if these don’t align with your spiritual or religious beliefs.

I found it interesting that 2 similar takes on the Chinese zodiac and Biddy Tarot’s annual card reading each mention how 2025 was a year for introspection and reflection leading to growth, and how 2026 is supposed to be a year of putting those lessons into action.

Here’s the first one I found: “My Final Post – The Year of the Snake 2025” 🐍 by Brandon Clear Minds

by Brandon Clear Minds

The Year of the Snake was not loud.
It did not rip things away or force dramatic endings.
It asked for something harder.

Honesty.

It showed us where we were tolerating instead of choosing.
Where we were staying because it felt familiar, not because it felt right.
Where we had learned to shrink, to self edit, to make ourselves easier to live with rather than fully seen.

The Snake did not push us forward.
It slowed us down long enough to notice what our bodies had been trying to tell us for years.

The unease.
The emotional exhaustion.
The quiet knowing that something was no longer aligned.

Growth in 2025 did not come from doing more.
It came from seeing clearly.

From naming what was draining us.
From accepting that clarity often arrives before permission.
From letting go of roles, relationships, and versions of ourselves that no longer reflected who we were becoming.

The Snake taught us this
Clarity always comes before change.

Not everything that ends does so loudly.
Some things fall away because you finally stopped abandoning yourself to keep them alive.

And that was not weakness.
That was wisdom.

The Year of the Horse 2026

Now the energy shifts.

The Year of the Horse is not about reflection.
It is about movement.

Where the Snake asked you to listen, the Horse asks you to trust.
To act on what you already know.
To stop over explaining, over processing, and over justifying your decisions to people who were never meant to understand them.

This is a year of embodied confidence.
Not the loud kind.
The grounded kind.

The kind that leaves when it is done.
The kind that says no without apologising.
The kind that chooses freedom over familiarity, even when the unfamiliar feels uncomfortable at first.

The Horse does not wait for perfect timing.
It moves when the truth becomes undeniable.

If 2025 showed you who you are not,
2026 asks you to live as who you are.

To take up space without guilt.
To move forward without dragging the past behind you.
To trust that momentum creates clarity, not the other way around.

You are not starting again in 2026.
You are starting from awareness.

You have already done the hardest part.
The shedding is complete.

Now, you move.

Now a very similar message from Wild Woman Sisterhood: a message about transitioning from what we learned about ourselves to action.

Growth involves action; if the movement is well thought out, gentle yet determined, then we have a better chance at sustaining what we put into motion. This year change seems to be upon us.

Our horse doesn’t need to be a wild, untamed thing, prone to running away or rearing up in protection. Instead, it can be a horse which has been nurtured by our past year of introspection and it can serve to carry us where we have chosen to go.

I found this message from Biddy Tarot about the upcoming year to be interesting in how it aligns with the Chinese zodiac. For those who don’t know, Brigit fulls weekly cards and yearly cards and gives her interpretation.

As we close out the introspective Hermit energy of 2025, I’ve been feeling into what’s waiting for us on the other side… and I wanted to share it with you.

Because 2026 arrives with a very different vibration — one guided by the Wheel of Fortune and supported by The Magician.

And this combination? It’s powerful.

The Wheel brings momentum, movement, and surprising opportunities — that feeling of life beginning to turn again, sometimes faster than we expect.

But here’s what I keep thinking about:

If you get caught on the outside of the Wheel, it can feel out of control.

Like you’re being flung around at the mercy of change…

Holding on for dear life and hoping you land somewhere good. 😅

The key is to move to the center of the Wheel… where things start to shift.

You gain leverage and everything becomes intentional.

You partner with the motion instead of being swept away by it.

And this is where The Magician steps in.

Because the truth is: you already hold everything you need — the tools, the intuition, the ideas, the inner power.

This year is simply about harnessing them.

A year where aligned action and universal support meet in the middle.

And honestly? I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for a new chapter.

A message from Biddy Tarot about the upcoming year

Here’s a Celtic Tree Zodiac for you, just in case you were wondering which tree represents you!

By Ireland and Peg’s Cottage

While we can’t predict the future, we can move intentionally and mindfully into our new year. We always have the opportunity to change and to put into motion the lessons we have learned as well as our carefully made plans. We don’t need a New Year to enact these changes, but the turning of the calendar certainly creates opportunities where we give ourselves permission.

Often, we sit on our plans, we feel unsure of ourselves, unsure of our success, but a new year can feel different. It calls to us to make changes. It creates hope that our plans have the power to change our lives, and that hope in turn triggers giving ourselves permission to step forward and do what we have in mind to.

You may not even know right now if you want to make changes, or what those changes could look like. Often life sneaks up on us, suddenly presenting new opportunities which are obvious, or very covert disguised as doors closing.

My wish for you is to have a wonderful New Year, to be filled with all the magic and wonder you can dream up for yourself!

Happy 2026!

  1. Happy New Year Tamara, may this year indeed not have us looking for snakes hidden, on guard for the unexpected…but have us mounted, wind in our hair on what we have built in that love found. Have a great year kind lady 🤗❤️🙏

  2. The Year of the Snake was definitely one where many of us shed our skin, left behind things we didn’t want to bring into our future and learnt to slow down and figure ourselves out. At least that’s how it’s been for myself and those around me. I’m so excited for the Year of the Horse, I feel like it’s the year I make proper progress and work towards the future I want. Wishing you a very Happy New Year, may 2026 be amazing for us all!

  4. Tamara, I don’t follow the Chinese zodiac and found the comments for 2026 as the Year of the Horse very interesting. We humans are in much need of courage to move forward with what needs to be done as individuals and members of society. May your New Year also be filled with magic, wonder, and much love ❤

    1. Thanks so much Rosaliene, I wish the same for you!

I didn’t follow the Chinese zodiac because I was honestly upset at being a Metal Ox. I was insulted for years, I had interpreted it as a slight to my intelligence, until I found out that it stood for dependability and stalwartness. Looking back, I see I became exactly that for my family, so now I feel comfort and a little bit of pride in admitting that’s who I am.

I did observe many people around me living out the notions of the year of the Snake, quietly working on change and personal development. I look forward to see how all those changes will manifest in the people I know, so their lives will be enriched.

      Happy new year!
