When we seek to discover the best in others, we somehow bring out the best in ourselves.
We see what we look for.
When we look for the negative in others, we’ll find it.
If we have anger or resentment against that person, the negativity appears amplified until it becomes the entirety of the person.
If we look for the positive in people, we can put the negative into perspective.
When we realize we ALL have the capability for negativity, that we ALL have baggage to one degree or another, it becomes easier to lose our pridefulness and to drop our judgmental behavior.
Choosing to see the positive in others is particularly difficult when we hold anger or resentment against someone.
I’m not immune to this, I have people in my life I need to shift my views about so I don’t carry those negative thoughts with me through my life.
Changing our thoughts is helpful for our own peace of mind.
I draw a line however when the person you’re seeking to minimize their negativity about is someone who is abusing or hurting you. Choosing to be blind to them can be dangerous.
When we choose to see the best in others it shouldn’t be at our own expense or at anyone else’s.
Choosing to see the best in others needs to be something we do for ourselves so we can live in peace.

I’m not sure where you stand on this but, I still struggle to be able to do this mentally with certain people myself. A good goal to keep in mind!

Cultivating compassion while drawing boundaries required for my wellbeing – that’s how I can be the best version of myself. I don’t know if I will be all done in this learning, it is a continual practice, and sometimes not so easy 🙂
