I’m seeing the desires of people around me, whether physically in my life, or virtually, through the Internet, the desires to change, to have their lives move forward, to be different.
There’s hesitation, almost trepidation of making the right choices, in choosing where they want their lives to go.
There’s anxiety in needing some changes to happen in order that negative consequences don’t soon follow, as in I need a job to pay my bills or I’ll be on the street…
There’s also impatience with the Universe to manifest what we have been working so hard on to make happen. It’s easy to focus on one area of our life that seems to be the single most important thing to see a change for the better, such as getting a job, even dare I say a good job, when we have been unemployed for a long period of time.
Securing employment can seem like the single most important thing when we have bill collectors calling, even on holidays, breathing down our necks, threatening action against us, the possibility of losing a home or apartment looming in front of our eyes.
I’m not saying here that bills, money and employment aren’t important, but if we’ve been busting our bunions to get a job and nothing is happening, except more debt, and feeling depressed from the interviews resulting in someone else getting hired, it may be time to take a look at what the Universe is trying to say to us, and believe me, it isn’t anything negative to put you down!
I’ve been hearing a lot about the Law of Attraction over the past few years (since it burst on the scene), how we need to think positive all the time, visualize what we want and it will happen… there may indeed be great merit to that, but personally I haven’t been a master of being positive all the time, or keeping what I wanted focused in my thoughts with laser-like precision.
I’ve been more like most people, caught up in the day-to-day struggles of my life, working on being as positive as I was able to in any given moment, yet still having to deal with my own fears, negative self-talk, and stress.
I’ve heard that our thoughts manifest into things, and I believe this works on different levels; with the new thought that on the atomic level, thoughts go out into the world and the Universe works to bring these things into our lives somehow – this is something I am still pondering on and learning about; then with the corporal level, that first we think of something, then we figure out a way to plan for it to happen, this I heartily subscribe to for it seems much more controllable, hence possible!
The new thought process, of things happening on an energetic wave emanating from our minds and out into the world and then coming back to us, seems to be an area that jolts many of us straight upright, for we only have to see very negative, hurtful or disastrous things in our own lives or around the world, to question this, even to have a wave of intense nausea hit the stomach, to then question if this is a thought we want to accept in our concept of how the Universe works.
Seems so cold and callous right? We immediately have a slew of hard questions to ask in order to debunk “Well, did the rape victim asked for it, or the starving like their situation or the abused child wanted it…?” How could that be? How can we ever accept this way of thinking? How can the Universe allow this to happen? How could a loving God allow this to happen?
I believe the Law of Attraction is a part of the story,
but perhaps not the whole story!
I truly believe it’s important to accept responsibility for our actions and our thoughts, but I believe the Universe is far more complex than that. I believe there’s a lot more to it, that interweaves many different realities and thoughts, including God as the Creator, the Spirit world, etc.
I was very struck when I first learned of the Law of Attraction how many people seemed to focus on financial success as though it were the proof so to speak of it working!
I read a comment on a forum page, where one gentleman said he was still manifesting things from 40 years ago into his life today! His comment was an answer to a woman feeling stuck in her life and wondering if the Universe had forgotten her, which really got me thinking, and is the inspiration for this post!
Looking back, I see things coming into my life in many strange ways, not just through thinking positively! Some very positive things happened perhaps in spite of my feeling so negatively about my life.
The Universe gives us what we need, even if we have no desire at all for it, for even in the darkest of times, there is still learning and growth.
So please dear friend, don’t get down on yourself that you can’t muster the faith to think positively about your life or yourself. Please don’t think that all the “negative’ things that have happened in your life came because you subconsciously asked for them to happen, or you deserve it… not so!
We are all exactly where we need to be. We are all walking the learning curves in our lives. Does it appear that nothing is happening in your life and that the universe has forgotten you? There is much happening behind the scenes invisible to us, that is working it out for a higher purpose. You haven’t been forgotten!
I have learned in my own life that these waiting times were given to me for a reason, and not just to frustrate me or to wear me down.
When I work very hard on making something happen, think positively, do all the right things, and the doors still stay closed against me, I have been learning, on a deeper and deeper level, that I need to pay attention to what the Universe may be trying to say to me! I’ve learned I need to take a step back to re-assess; often I’ve missed something crucially important to being able to move forward!
So now I put out a few questions to you to ponder on, to find your own answers: Perhaps your mind and spirit needs some time to rest, regroup, meditate? Perhaps you need some re-training or additional training before you can embark on a new job or venture? Perhaps you are being given the time and opportunity to accomplish something in the in-between time? Perhaps you need to focus on your health or family or spirit?
A few more thoughts on impatience from the book How to Heal Your Life on a Deep Heart Level:
Impatience with our Progress
After we have examined our lives and have decided to make some much-needed changes, because it is the right thing to do, it is easy to become impatient when things don’t move quickly enough. Impatience with our life that doesn’t appear to move forward, for our future to become how we picture it, means we can add a lot of stress and pressure to live under.
Is it possible that God/ the Creator/ Spirit moves slowly in our lives to allow us time to develop patience? For when we learn to live patiently, a lot of the self-imposed pressure is taken off our shoulders.
Remember that there is a time and a season for everything, and while it appears to us that there isn’t any outward change showing, behind the scenes things can be changing enormously.
I have lived through long periods of time, where I felt I desperately needed change to happen, and everything I did didn’t seem to advance my progress at all, yet when change finally did kick in, I could see how the Creator of our Universe had worked things out much better than I could have, and that many more people were taken into account than I would have even been able to give thought to.
Many times when things appear to come to a virtual standstill, not moving at the speed I crave and need, I need to remind myself that perhaps I’m being given the time for a reason, which then causes me to re-examine my whole situation to see what I need to be doing in the time I have been given. Looking back on my life, I can see that when I tackled the task/s I needed to, soon after it/they were completed, life clicked into place, and change happened. Interesting!

“There seems to be no plan because it is all plan; there seems no center because it is all center.” – C.S. Lewis
As long as we are impatient for our lives to move forward, we are too dissatisfied with our current situation to be happy in the moment. This means we may be putting too much emphasis on outside things events for our inner happiness.
In becoming impatient with change and progress to happen, the negative stress that builds up inside of us can obscure the gratitude we would otherwise have for the many things that are good and are going well.
Re-establishing our feeling of gratitude is one of the cornerstones to feeling happy in our present moments, in spite of all the things that may not be going according to how we would prefer them to.
Living in the present moment is a very difficult mindset to live in, I still move in and out of it. I need to remind myself to live in the present moment when I’m feeling stuck. I need to carefully assess what the little lessons are that I need to be learning and putting into practice. I need to look at the blessings and the positive things in my current situation, in order to release the impatience. I need to remember that we are given times in our lives to adjust, to practice what we have learned, and to appreciate the little things we might overlook if things progressed at a faster pace.
It is a very Zen thought to say one needs to live in the moment, however, it’s much more than some strange Eastern thought process we may have heard of, but reject because it goes against Western thought and religion. It is really such a basic and crucial foundational point in living, irregardless of any religious direction you have in your life.
Remember also: Life is temporary, nothing lasting too long, cycles are always changing.
