“Be around the light bringers, the magic makers, the world shifters, the game shakers.
They challenge you, break you open, uplift and expand you.
They don’t let you play small with your life.
These heartbeats are your people.
These people are your tribe.”
Being around negative people is more than a downer, their negative outlooks affect us in many subtle ways.
We can feel guilty to show strength, joy, interest, ambition, or happiness out of a sense of misguided loyalty to people we love and care for. We understand they feel uncomfortable around our positivity, even feeling we may be disloyal to them, so we learn to downplay.
Over time this downplaying for the negative person wears us down; we lose some of our own light when we dim ourselves for others.
If we have more than one negative person in our lives the effect of dimming down multiplies, until we question our own abilities, our interests, our future, our plans.

I know what that’s like, because I had been around some very negative people for years of my life. As I made the difficult decisions to remove or reduce my contact with them, I found that I was able to increase my own feelings of positivity.
Making these decisions in our lives is very good for our mental, emotional and even physical health!
Making these decisions allows us to live our lives undimmed, unashamed, and feeling so much stronger and happier!
If you can’t remove the negative people, please look at reducing your time with them, for your mental health, and keep your heart open to making new friendships with the positive people!

Truly said! It is a painful experience to realize that people around you are having a negative effect on you and then changing the amount of time spent with them. Especially empathic giving takes on a very exhausting role with lack of boundaries. It is very important to learn the skill to draw the line for our own wellbeing and find our own tribe for influence in the right direction.

Absolutely! Well said!! A lack of boundaries allows us to accept and keep the negative people in our lives. “Drawing a line around our well being” I love that term for setting boundaries! It sounds so much more nurturing than the clinical sounding “setting boundaries”! Magical!! 🥰🌸
