Scrolling, scrolling, scrolling…

The past few days have seen me scrolling, scrolling, scrolling through Facebook and a few media sources, looking for information to share to be able to encourage and inform about what is happening in Ukraine.

Edit: I have been using my maps app to visit restaurants in Moscow to post 5 star reviews, as a way to raise awareness about what their government is doing to Ukraine because their media is lying to them.

This is what I’ve been posting: “Your food looks delicious! Maybe one day I will be able to try some after the war in Ukraine has long been finished, the buildings and the roads have been repaired and after Russia backs away from trying to overthrow Ukraine’s sovereignty! I look forward one day to visiting Moscow after peace has been reestablished and Ukraine can once again trust Russia not to invade and try to overthrow it. I wish your establishment peace and that your customers have goodwill towards Ukraine and they denounce what Putin is doing as his soldiers try to destroy Ukraine!”

(I also want to give a big shout of thanks to everyone who is helping Ukraine financially, who is supportive and encouraging Ukrainians during this time!)

This week I’ve felt so disengaged from trying to write posts for my blog; I’ve felt that my time is needed to share ways people can help or support the war efforts and the people involved.

I’m sure there are many people who can relate to doing this when you’ve had a situation or event which has impacted you.

Do these kinds of interruptions in our blogging schedules indicate we’re not as committed to our readership?

I’d like to think they don’t. As much as I enjoy writing articles and posts which I feel will be helpful and relevant to my readers, I know I need to honor what I feel needs to be done and to realize that I can’t do it all!

It’s during these difficult interruptions that we sometimes get hard on ourselves, feeling we somehow need to find the time to do it all, and we can find it difficult to give ourselves the grace to take the time needed to attend to other matters in our lives. We may feel terribly guilty for putting aside writing to do other things.

What if the break we need to take isn’t because of a crisis somewhere in the world? What if it is just something we need to do for our own mental health?

No matter what the reason, I believe we need to take the time to do what needs doing!

There’s no need to try to burn the candle at both ends!

Give yourself permission to do what you need to do, in the time that it takes you!

Better to return with a heart that is ready to write and share, than it is to try to force words onto a page!

Blessings to all!

  1. I think this post too is very helpful and important to your readers – I am inspired by your restaurant reviews, what a creative way for making your message seen where it matters, it does make a difference, it sends empowering ripples of change – in me who is reading about it and in those that it is intended for. Your post is helpful to show how we need to honor ourselves for what we need – permission to take time off or then express exactly what we need to.

    2. I saw a meme on Facebook about leaving restaurant reviews and I thought it was brilliant! When I shared it on Facebook a Ukrainian friend commented that my positive way of handling it was a good example to follow. She was concerned that her emotional reviews she had left might not get approved.

I believe that we can win more support through kindness. The Russian citizens for the most part aren’t anti Ukrainian. They just aren’t aware what their government is doing.

  2. I think it’s more our personal lives (or other thoughts) Take over rather than not being dedicated to the readership.

I’m doing okay ideas and inspiration to write, my issue is getting the time!
