  1. One of my low key, nice to have (but not essential) goals is to shade in every area of that wordpress map with a visitor- think places like North Korea, Greenland, and the various small islands across the world will be a challenge!

    1. LOL! That would be interesting to check out! I haven’t checked previous months but here’s hoping!

    1. Thanks so much!

Write first, edit later! I used to teach art and many of my students would keep erasing the first marks because they weren’t satisfied, and realized later that if they had kept the original lines, the ones that came after would make sense of them.

So too in writing. Write, write, write. Edit and massage it later! It’s a process, it doesn’t look great at first. Greatness is a building process, not necessarily a homerun we hit straight away!

        1. That sounds like a good idea! Perfection doesn’t come straight away, in fact, it comes much later! Sometimes much, much later!

My method for book writing may not work for everyone, in fact I don’t seem to follow any generally prescribed method, but it works for me.

I like to work on downloading what’s in my head. Once I have something down, I’ll do my rough edits, moving paragraphs around, adding more sentences, and trying not to delete sentences at that point, for I have found that sometimes the sentences I’m thinking of deleting actually belong somewhere else.

Once I have my rough chapters in place I do look at the overall flow to see that everything is where it needs to be and if not, I’ll move stuff around, which usually inspires more writing.

Once I feel I have all the nits and bolts in place, then I start going through the manuscript, tightening things up, kind of like assembling a piece of flat-pack furniture. You can’t go tightening everything down until all the pieces are in their correct places!

It’s a process. I do 2-3 final edits, giving some time in between each one so I can come back with fresh eyes. I’m definitely not a write a book in a month kind of person.

            1. I’m onto my 3rd book, and since my formula for writing helped me through the 1st and 2nd, I figure I’m just going to continue using the same method. I knew a teacher at a community college who proclaimed there were only certain approaches to writing that were “valid” and anything else wasn’t. Well, my method doesn’t follow any academically prescribed way, yet I’ve had 2 books pop out of the pipeline.

Whatever your method, trust it. Even if no one else finds it valid, if it works, then stick with it! Also, trust your gut! It knows more that the head does, LOL!

    1. Thanks so much Dr. Stein! I feel very grateful to be able to reach out to so many people, even if they aren’t all followers. Touching people’s hearts is more important to me! If I can help someone to lift their life a little, I feel successful in what I’m doing!
