While the concept of carrying emergency confetti is new to me, I’m thinking it has some merit!
We prepare for emergencies and inconveniences… my Grandma backpack I use for a purse certainly has all sorts of things I or my family may need, and honestly, they do actually get used.
When good things happen or there is good news, I’m usually surprised but of course very pleased and will respond with a smile or words of congratulations if appropriate. I’m more emotionally reserved, so thinking about celebrating good news in the day-to-day more overtly is a new concept.
Would I throw the confetti if I stumbled upon a good sale of something I want or need? Probably best to do it outside, not sure if the store would appreciate me sprinkling some potential slip hazards.
If the waitress gives me a discount or even a free item, do I throw my confetti on her, or in the air over the table? If I throw it outside of the restaurant, how will she know I’m celebrating her generosity?
Of course if I attend a sports event at one of the grandkids schools, that would be cause to celebrate. Do I throw a little bit in the air for each goal or wait until the end to see what the final score is?
On the other hand it’s seeming too complicated for my adult mind! I’ll go back to handing out smiles and praise. I know how to do that and won’t come across like an addled older person!
I certainly wouldn’t want to embarrass my friends and family by being that “extra”! I may need to hold onto this idea for when I am truly very old, and people will smile at me benevolently, the same way they’d smile at an exuberant 8-year old!
Did I make you smile today? I hope so!
Keep the positive thoughts flowing, remember to speak gently and kindly to yourself, and do something just for the fun of it! You deserve a fun break!
Celebrating those small moments is an important component to increasing our joy, for we don’t let those moments pass unnoticed! When we don’t notice the joyful or positive moments, it is easier to assume they aren’t present and then focus more on the negative. This isn’t fake positivity, but just becoming more and more aware of how many wonderful little things are occurring in our lives already!
Here’s a few upbeat thoughts:
- Do small things with great love.
- Build someone up. Remind them they’re worthy.
- Never wish them pain. Wish them healing. That’s what they need.
- When we seek to discover the best in others, we somehow bring out the best in ourselves.
- Bless everyone you meet today!
- Be an encourager. Telling people they have wonderful wings won’t take away your ability to fly.

Ha! I love this idea! A pocket-full of confetti just in case there’s a celebration is a great idea 🥳

The thought of carrying emergency confetti is cute but I too would celebrate more quietly. You did make me smile though while reading your post Tamara.

Tamara, you’ve brought up a truly delightful idea. While it might be a bit tricky to know when to use it, I think it’s a great way to celebrate the little victories in life. And honestly, who wouldn’t want to be that “extra” person spreading joy and positivity? Thanks for making me smile today 😀

Lol, Ritish you may borrow this idea! Yes, celebrating those small moments is an important component to increasing our joy for we don’t let it pass unnoticed! I think I need to add that little thought to the post!

We adults do tend to overthink everything 🙂 Instead of confetti, I would choose a tiny bell, like the sound of Tinker Bell. No mess. Pure magic!

😃 hehe, I really like that idea! If someone did that for me I might think it a little weird, but I’d appreciate the effort!

You know, I think we should just celebrate when the moment takes us, let that inner child out to play 🤣 But just as you said, not on any mothers ‘property’. Actually, I think if I just invented dissolving confetti…I think I’d be rich 🤗🤣😂❤️🙏

Dissolving confetti! Cool! Would have to not dissolve into a gelatinous or a stickt mess! Yes, finding ways to punctuate the good moments is a great way to deepen the joy! Doesn’t have to be confetti!

Yes — a big smile, Tamara. And, yes, old or young. For those in the middle, maybe not. But your 8 year old sounds like a peach!

Not my 8 year old, I got the meme from Facebook, but the kid in me said yesss! Then the adult in me got practical, but I still love the idea of doing something fun to punctuate a great moment!
