In a society that has you counting money, pounds, calories, and steps, be a rebel and count your blessings instead!

“In a society that has you counting money, pounds, calories, and steps, be a rebel and count your blessings instead!”

At a time when we’re all on the edge of emotional burnout, feeling grateful might be the last thing we feel like feeling, but trust me when I say this, it’s actually the key to getting out of a funk!

Back when I struggled with anxiety and depression I had a terrible time feeling grateful about my life.

Once I brought the habit of praying prayers of thanks into my daily routine, I noticed that I felt so much better, in that I felt more hopeful and able to handle the problems in my life.

“Counting our blessings” or noticing the wonderful little things, is a great way to help us flip the script in our minds, to help us change from negative thinking to become more positive!

Give it a try.

There a few ways of approaching it, if making a list doesn’t work for you, try prayers of thanks. If those don’t work, try going for a walk and finding one thing to focus on… meditate on it and mull it over… in fact, I recommend this if you’re a gratitude beginner.

Mulling over one good thing can lift the spirits and help refocus the mind!

  1. When I was going through the most difficult times, I said to myself – I am tired of counting my blessings, and oh now it dawned on me, that means that’s how blessed I am!

As if I corrected myself within that Self dialog 🙂 It does seem hard to find gratitude at times and yet it is the most profound gift that keeps opening doors to more blessings. One mistake seemingly I made is that I didn’t stay the rebel that way and tried to fit back into the practical world. That brought quite a suffering back to me.

    1. We all go through ups and downs of our thinking, coming in and out of different thought processes, some to stay a while, and with others we struggle to return to the state of mind we crave to be in. It’s all an incredible journey! It would be great if we all lived on a continuous growth curve and kept getting better and better at life, but our human natures are such that there is always a challenge for us!

    1. Thanks so very much! “Help with life, find happiness and joy”… you’re so right! This is the secret sauce! I know! I lived without this secret, and what a difference inside of my head and heart once I started including it in my days!

  2. This is beautifully written. It is timely and helps a lot during these difficult times. Personally, I have made it a habit to list down all the things I am grateful for. Whenever I feel sad or discouraged I read them and get instant relief. Happy Easter in advance 🙂
