Today I will do my best!

“Today I will do my best. If I have a good day, I will be proud of myself. If I have a bad day, I will not dwell on it. I will forgive myself, put it behind me and I will continue to move forward.”

Continue to move forward – that’s a step we get to eventually isn’t it… after we eat our feelings, or hoist a few too many drinks?

While we’re eating our feeling or hoisting drinks, we’re trying not to feel badly about ourselves; we’re likely beating ourselves up inside and trying to feel better about it.

This quote actually speaks to something we may not be doing, which is to give ourselves grace by suspending judgement. Interesting concept isn’t it?

When I discovered this concept, quite by accident, I found a very important ingredient to feeling better about myself.

I had been severely criticized in my youth so my self-perception was very negative. When something difficult happened, I’d automatically go into self-recrimination and self-loathing mode. I didn’t like myself very much because I had been led to believe that there wasn’t much to like about me.

When I set out to change my life, to change how I felt about myself, to change how I felt when I’d have bad days, I realized I needed to change the inner tapes of how I spoke to myself.

This quote clearly shows the inner steps to take to change those tapes!

Try to remember this quote! Write it out!

When you have a good day, be proud of yourself. If you have a bad day, don’t dwell on it. Forgive yourself, put it behind you, and continue to move forward!

Have a great day!
